Software version 1.6 extends enterprise functionality to place Buttons at the heart of media operations at any scale
Buttons provides a simple way to control complex technologies across multiple vendors. Users assemble precisely the optimum workflow and the functions they need at each operator position using drag-and-drop design software. These tailored interfaces can run on laptops or mobiles, or on specialist hardware like the Elgato Stream Deck, making for perfect operation under pressure.
Version 1.6 reflects the growing expectation of high availability systems, by providing the core software running on three computers or virtual machines in parallel, to ensure guaranteed uninterruptible performance. Security is enhanced through a comprehensive user and role management regime, ensuring only authorised users can access any control position, and when they do, they are presented with precisely the right configuration.
Operator authentication is by NFC where available, and by PIN. Single sign-on is fully supported, integrated with enterprise security platforms including Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, GitHub and Okta. Users can also sign in using a passkey or WebAuthn. Managers can see who is working in the editor in real time by displaying avatars.
“Our customers now trust Buttons for complete control in critical live events and productions,” said Ole-Andreas Løvland, Bitfocus CEO. “That puts a huge responsibility on us to ensure that the systems are secure and reliable: only the authorised operators can log in, and when they do the system will perform exactly as they expect. We continue to develop our enterprise features to ensure that, and release 1.6 demonstrates that commitment.
“At the same time, we continue to evolve capabilities, reflecting the changes happening across the industry,” Løvland said. “We reflect the developments in NMOS specifications, for example, so users can expect compliant equipment to be accurately and quickly discovered and registered. Our team is also in constant contact with key manufacturers, so as they add functionality we ensure our APIs are updated to incorporate them, so our customers are free to create the show they want.”
Visitors to NAB Show can see the latest features in action on the Elgato booth, N2665 in the North Hall. Find out more at bitfocus.io.
